US President Signs orders banning TikTok & Wechat

Vastavam web: United States of America President Trump signed two executive orders to ban popular Chinese Apps Wechat and TikTok which considered as threat to US national security. Trump ban on this apps comes into effect in one month 15 days, Trump said on Thursday.

As already known that India is the first country to ban these two apps and also banned 106 Chinese Apps. “The United States must take aggressive action against the owners of TikTok to protect our national security,” Trump said in his executive order. In his next executive order he said the country must take “aggressive action” against WeChat to protect America’s national security

China firmly opposes the executive orders and will defend the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese businesses, foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told a media briefing on Friday. TikTok has come under fire from U.S. lawmakers over national security concerns surrounding data collection as distrust between Washington and Beijing grows.

The ban on U.S. transactions with Tencent, one of the world’s biggest internet companies, portends further fracturing of the global internet and severing of long-standing ties between the tech industries in the United States and China. On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expanded a program dubbed “Clean Network” to prevent various Chinese apps and telecoms firms from accessing sensitive information on U.S. citizens and businesses.
