Vastavam web: It is already known that the YCP government will be implementing a complete liquor ban in the state by 2023 as promised by YS Jagan prior to the polls. The government has already taken over all the private liquor shops in Andhra Pradesh. The government is planning to reduce the number of liquor shops from 4300 to 3500. Currently, all 4300 of the liquor shops are now being run and operated by the government of Andhra Pradesh.
This seems to have intrigued Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He wants to follow Jagan’s idea now. Reportedly, KCR has already asked concerned authorities to prepare a detailed report in this regard. According a report submitted to KCR, Telangana government is making around Rs 10,000 crores per year from the excise taxes on liquor sales. The government can roughly make another Rs 2000 crores if it runs and operates liquor stores in the state.
