Election campaign ended in Telangana

Vastavam Web: The election campaign across the state has been ended today evening. Besides restricting the campaigns in the state after 5 pm and 4 pm in the agency areas , the EC also imposed strict rules on the TV and social media campaigns.

A news conference jointly addressed by Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and other leaders of the People’s Front in Hyderabad was ended abruptly a minute before the deadline for campaign ended at 5 p.m. Ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao addressed his last election rally in Gajwel constituency, from where he is seeking re-election.

The state is going for polls on December 7 for 119 assembly seats and the polling will be held from 7 am to 5 pm. Around 1821 candidates are in race for the assembly elections. A little over 2.80 crore people are eligible to vote in the Friday election. The Election Commission has readied 32815 polling centres in the state with Hyderabad on the top with 3873 centres and the least is Wanaparthy having 280 polling centres. Over 1.6 lakh election staff has been deployed by the EC. Arrangements have been made in the polling centres for the elections by procuring 55,329 ballot machines and 42,751 VVPAT machines and 39,763 control units.
