Movie Review: Silly Fellows

OVERVIEW: An MLA named Jacket Janakiram plans to hold mass weddings. He gives the job of bringing couples to the mandapam to Veerababu (Allari Naresh). When Veerababu is short of a guy, he asks his friend Soori (Sunil) to act as a groom to Pushpa (Nandini Rai) for few minutes. Soori’s wedding to Pushpa, a recording dancer puts both of them in many funny situations. How Veera Babu and Soori escape from this mess and marry their respective girlfriends (Chitra Shukla and Poorna) forms the rest of the story.

REVIEW: Allari Naresh has played the role in his usual style. Relief is that he has not done any spoofs. The film relies more on Sunil and other actors than Allari Naresh. Sunil has played full-length comedian role. He is just okay. Jayaprakash Reddy gets a lengthy character and his comedy in the second half is good. Brahmi’s comedy is routine. Chitra Shukla is okay.

Bheemaneni Srinivasarao remains loyal to the original. It is almost a frame-to-frame remake of Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran. Old fashioned direction and presentation don’t impress much. A bit of upgrade according to the latest trends would have been good. M

The storyline of Silly Fellow is simple but interesting. The dialogues are funny. The music by Sri Vasanth is just ok. He became fail with his music and BGM. Though the songs are good but the placement of songs look like a speed breaker. His background score failed to elevate the scenes. The cinematography by Anish Tarun is impressive.

Editing is decent but there are number of illogical and dragged scenes in the movie. Bheemaneni Srinivasa Rao could have added few more twists and turns to make the movie interesting. The production values by Kiran Reddy and Bharat Chaudhary under People Media Factory and Blue Planet Entertainment are good.

Final verdict of the film is ‘Silly Fellows’ delivers what it promises, silly fun outing. If you have nothing else to do at the weekend and wants to enjoy some brainless comedy, here is Silly Fellows.
