Many Countries Controlled Covid-19 without vaccine: WHO

Vastavam web: The World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Friday stated that there are countries which have shown that COVID-19 can be controlled even without a COVID-19 vaccine. “All countries have been affected, but not all countries have been affected equally. There are many countries all over the world that have shown COVID-19 can be controlled with existing tools,” said Ghebreyesus. “One of the things all these countries have in common is an emphasis on testing,” he added.

“If you don’t know where the virus is, you can’t stop it. If you don’t know who has the virus, you can’t isolate them, care for them, or trace their contacts. But testing must be strategic, in support of clear public health objectives,” he added. Amidst World Health Organisation (WHO) team all geared up to investigate the origin of the Covid-19 virus, China has claimed that just because corona cases were first reported in Wuhan, does not mean the contagion originated from here.

State-run Chinese media have been carrying stories that a number of imported food products from different countries, including a consignment of fish from India, were found to have traces of the Covid-19, alleging that the virus may have entered China through foreign routes.
