Vastavam web: Nepal has given a blow to China and advised to stay away from the country’s politics. Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli told Chinese Ambassador Hou Yankee last week that he is capable of handling challenges within his party without assistance from other countries. A party faction led by former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is in opposition to Oli. According to HT news, Oli had told his supporters that he was ready for a split in the party. China is working to avoid this.
The change in Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s attitude towards China comes at a time when he is making concerted efforts to improve relations with New Delhi and to start discussing the differences of the two countries on Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh. Interestingly, Chinese Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe is visiting Nepal over the weekend and it is expected that he can have some talks related to the NCP’s affairs.
