SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar Writes To Neelam Sawhney To Stop The Reorganisation Of Districts Process

Vastavam Web: It is known that the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to increase the districts count in the state to 26 from the existing 13.

The districts will be made based on the Lok Sabha constituencies so that the resources and development get decentralized rather than focusing on just a single region. However, the process of reorganizing the districts came to a halt, after State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh Nilam Sawhney to stop the reorganization process.

Reports claimed that, in the letter, the SEC told CS that the Election Code is effective in the state and asked her to stop the process till the Local Body polls get commenced. The letter from Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar came a day after, the Supreme Court directed the AP government to seek permission from the SEC for the development works.
