Gay Indian couple ties knot in New Jersey

Vastavam Web: Two Indian men who were head over heels in love with each other took their relationship to another level as they quashed gender stereotypes and stigma. The two men- Amit Shah and Aditya Madiraju got married to each other last year at a New Jersey temple and won several hearts with their brave gesture.

The couple tied the knot in January, last year but managed to break the internet through their Indian post-wedding ceremonies. Before the wedding, the couple participated in traditional ceremonies like the Mehendi along with their loved ones. On July 19, 2019, the couple visited a temple in New Jersey and got married to each other in presence of their families. Recalling the ceremonies, Amit said, “It was also completely organic, we didn’t force anything.”

Reacting to the warm response to their wedding on the internet, Amit said, “We didn’t realise the impact a simple wedding at a temple would have on people around the world looking for hope. There is no secret to acceptance, tolerance, or happiness.” He added, “You just have to find the right partner to take the step with. Let the truth of your love speak for itself.”
