35,000 Indians planned to leave Kuwait in coming two weeks

Vastavam web: Around 35,000 Indians are planned to leave Kuwait for home on repatriation flights in two weeks’ time, according to a Kuwaiti newspaper. They will fly home during the period of August 18-31, on 12 to 14 flights daily, the source added. Indian and Kuwaiti airlines will equally transport the passengers on daily flights.

Indians account for almost 1 million of Kuwait’s 4.7 million population. Earlier this month, Kuwait announced suspending flights from 31 “high-risk” countries on instructions from Kuwaiti health authorities due to the global coronavirus pandemic. Sri Lanka has, meanwhile, asked for operating flights to repatriate its citizens who wish to leave Kuwait, Al Qabas reported, quoting the same source.

Authorities in Kuwait are expected soon to allow 14 departure flights for the Sri Lankans, according to the source. Such flights, which may be operated daily over two weeks, are expected to begin as of Saturday, the source said.
