Vastavam web: The much-awaited cabinet expansion of CM KCR has finally taken place. KCR has included son KT Ramarao, nephew Harish Rao and four others into his cabinet. Interestingly, two women have got a berth in KCR’s cabinet for the first time. Sabitha Indra Reddy and Satyavathi Rathod have been given cabinet positions in the latest expansion.
The six new ministers have taken oath in the presence of Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan. The cabinet was expanded on Sunday, a day before Telangana assembly budget session which begins on Monday.
This marks a new era as KCR hasn’t expanded his cabinet ever since he was sworn in as the CM for the second term after winning huge majority in Dec 2018 polls. Not including his son KTR and nephew Harish Rao into cabinet had been raising eyeballs since then. Finally, ending speculations to rest, eight months after the new government formed, KCR has expanded his cabinet.
Interestingly, Harish Rao has been called to take oath, followed by KTR. Soon after taking oath, KTR touched his father and CM KCR’s feet and shown his respect towards his father. Earlier, Harish Rao had also touched KCR’s feet and conveyed his respect towards his uncle. After Harish and KTR, Sabitha Indra Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Satyavathi Rathod and Puvvada Ajay Kumar have taken oath in order.
With this, six-time MLA Harish will be taking over as Finance Minister for first time in his political career. KTR, who earlier served as IT and Municipal Minister, will retain the portfolio. KTR is going to handle Municipal Administration, Urban Development, Information Technology, Industries. Patolla Sabitha Indrareddy is the new Education Minister of Telangana. Gangula Kamalakar got BC Welfare, Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs portfolios. Satyavathi Rathod got Scheduled Tribes, Women & Child Welfare portfolios. Puvvada Ajay Kumar is going to be Transport Minister and G Jagadish Reddy has got Energy Ministry.
