Tamil Nadu State Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur C Raju has warned Sarkar team to remove some controversial scenes from the movie. Thse are scenes that show people throwing away freebies provided by the Tamil Nadu government. Director AR Murugadoss himself makes a cameo appearance in the movie and throws the State-provided mixer grinders and wet grinders into the fire.

Minister also added, “This is not good for an upcoming actor like Vijay. I know people won’t accept these scenes. It was brought to our knowledge and this was disappointing.” Vijay’s previous movie, Mersal had similar controversies as it had dialogues on GST and demonetization. Mersal got severe criticism from BJP’s Tamil Nadu President Tamilisai Soundararajan but that actually helped Mersal getting more collections.
