Happy Birthday to ‘King’ Nagarjuna

Vastavam Web: August 29th is the birthday of Tollywood Manmadhudu, ‘King’ Akkineni Nagarjuna. Nagarjuna’s full name is Akkineni Nagarjuna he was born in Chennai on 29th August 1959. The handsome star was born on this day to Telugu cinema stalwart Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu and Annapurna in Chennai. He is a well-known Indian Film and Television Actor, Producer. Nagarjuna spent his childhood in Chennai and Hyderabad. After completing his M.S. in Automobile Engineering from Eastern Michigan University, Nagarjuna made his entry into films with ‘Vikram’ in 1986. He has worked more in the Telugu film industry.

Nagarjuna established himself as one of the leading superstars of the Telugu cinema after starting his career as an actor from a very small age. Nagarjuna has always been an actor who has been willing to try out new roles and concepts. He made his acting debut with the film called Vikram which was released in the year 1986. But, he rose to stardom when he played the lead in 1989 movie Geetanjali. This film won the National Film Award in 1990 for the Best Popular Film. Outside films, he has business interests as well.

In 1984, Akkineni Nagarjuna got married Lakshmi Daggubati. Lakshmi and Nagarjuna have a son together, Naga Chaitanya, who was born in 1986. However, the couple got divorced in 1990. Nagarjuna then got married to actress Amala Akkineni. By his second wife, Nagarjuna is the father of another son, actor Akhil Akkineni. He runs an NGO along with his wife named Blue Cross of Hyderabad. His elder son Naga Chaitanya got engaged to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Akkineni Nagarjuna has managed to pull off a look that heroes half his age would be worried to even try. To this day, films like ‘Manmadhudu’, ‘Shiva’, ‘Geethanjali’,‘Ninne Pelladutha’, ‘Shirdi Sai’, ‘Damarukam’ and ‘Rajanna’ remain unique and special in our industry. Unlike most of the Southern superstars, ‘Yuva Samrat’ Nagarjuna had a fruitful stint as an actor in Bollywood as well. He grabbed public attention through a string of super-hits in his introductory years like ‘Shiva’ which was a remake of the Telugu blockbuster Siva by Ram Gopal Verma.
