Vastavam Web: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who in on life support system in the hospital since yesterday, August 15. Vajpayee is in AIIMS for the past nine weeks. His health condition worsened on Tuesday. Concerned over the deteriorating health condition of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today left for the national capital to enquire about his health. “I had shared a very cordial relationship with Atal Bihari Vajpayee,. I hold highest regards for him. That is the reason I have cancelled all my programmes and going to New Delhi to see him,” Banerjee told reporters at the airport.
Vajpayee, 93, was the 10th Prime Minister of India. He was admitted to the AIIMS on June 11 following an infection in kidney tract, chest congestion and problems in urination. Vajpayee is under the supervision of the Director of AIIMS Dr Randeep Guleria, a pulmonologist. Dr Guleria knows Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s medical history better than any other doctor as he has served as personal physician to the former prime minister for over three decades.

Banerjee was a cabinet minister in the NDA government led by Vajpayee. Banerjee is scheduled to head straight to the AIIMS where Atal-ji is undergoing treatment,” a senior official of the chief minister’s office said.
