Vastavam web: Multiplexes and cinema halls in Telangana have been directed against from selling packaged goods more than MRP to the customers. The state government issued orders that strict consequences will be taken if the practice continues. It is ensured that this rule will strongly be effective from August 1st onwards. It is noted that currently, the packed foods are being sold at a high price, 200 percent more than the MRP mentioned in the product. Being one of the most selling points for multiplexes, the prices are hiked more than usual which brought in a notice for a price regulation.
A meeting was held as of late with Multiplexes and Cinema theater owners, and members from the container affiliation where the Controller of Legal Metrology Department requested them to offer the packaged goods according to MRP, same as they are retailed outside. The request to print the cost on the products will be made obligatory from August 1.
The Controller of Legal Metrology Department, Akun Sabharwal said that it is illegal to sell the eatables at more than MRP and warned that the multiplexes will have to face heavy penalty apart from a case being booked against them in case of rule violation. It is further said that, if people do not adhere to the rules, the customers can lodge a complaint on toll-free No 180042500333 or Whatsapp No. 7330774444
