Movie Review: Sammohanam

RATING: 3/5

OVERVIEW: A famous actress Sameera (Aditi Rao) comes to the residence of Vijay (Sudheer Babu) for a movie shoot as the house was hired as the location. Vijay doesn’t like movie stars and their world as it is filled with fake people.Despite his loathsomeness towards movie stars, he gets attracted to her when she hires him as Telugu dialogue coach.Vijay is good at Telugu and is waiting for his book of cartoons in Telugu to be published. He naturally falls for her beauty and for her “aura”. But being a big film star will she reciprocate the same?

REVIEW: Sudheer Babu invents a new persona for himself with this film. He looks very natural and extremely confident. There is finesse in his acting and elegance in his body language. He is equally authoritative in both emotional episodes and causal scenes. Aditi Rao Hydari plays the role of a film actress and she is authentic. She did show variations between the glamour side of moviestar and vulnerability of a soft-hearted woman who is struggling with a personal situation.

Naresh provides popular entertainment as a man who wants to become an actor in his 50’s (it reminds me of Brahmanandam character in Dookudu). Pavitra Lokesh looks more endearing in this film as a mother who understands the inner turmoil of her son. She does a wonderful job. Among the friends group, Rahul Ramakrishna makes an impact with his freestyle acting. Hari Teja plays heroine’s friend character and she has a couple of important scenes that are vital for the film. She is extremely good. Tanikella Bharani played a cameo and explains very well about the basic concept. Each and every character in the film is written and cast properly.

The director, Mohan Krishna Indraganti has opted for a very sensible love story and narrated it at his own pace. Not even a single scene looks rushed and the director deserves the credit for this. Sammmohanam will surely be one of the best works in his career. The camera work is clap worthy as the rich locales of Manali have been captured brilliantly. A few love episodes have been taken a notch higher, thanks to some stunning work behind the lens from PG Vinda.

The production values of the movie are really good as every scene looks rich and vibrant. The music album runs with the narrative and songs have been executed well on screen.

Final verdict of the film is ‘Sammohanam ‘ is a slow paced class film from Director Indraganti. First half has some colorful moments with Aditi Rao , Sudheer pair’s cool chemistry.Overall, this film may appeal to audience in overseas and Urban centres.
