Sridevi’s Death Case is Closed: Dubai Prosecution

Vastavam Web: The Dubai Police have cleared the release of Bollywood icon Sridevi’s body for the embalming process, ending her family’s two-day wait for the next step in bringing the body home for cremation. Apart from Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor, her stepson Arjun Kapoor is also in Dubai to oversee the formalities. The mortal remains of Bollywood actor Sridevi are expected to reach India on Tuesday, as authorities in Dubai have handed over the letters for the release of the mortal remains of the actor. The body will now be sent for embalming.

The body was to be repatriated on Monday but there was a delay in submission of post mortem and toxicology reports. Sridevi’s death was announced early on Sunday but the funeral, which will take place in Mumbai, has been delayed for two days pending paper work in Dubai where the actor had gone to attend a family wedding. Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor had given a statement to the Dubai Police on the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death. Pending the investigation, Sridevi’s body will remain at Al Qusais morgue while the hotel room has been sealed by the police. Dubai rules state that a death occurring anywhere outside a hospital has to be investigated thoroughly, even if it is a natural death. police are examining Sridevi’s phone call records. Sridevi’s medical records from India have also been sought. The prosecutor’s office wants to know what medical treatment she had taken before and what surgeries she underwent and if that had any bearing on her sudden death.

Consulate General of India in Dubai, in a tweet, confirmed that Dubai police today handed over the letters for the release of Bollywood diva Sridevi’s body to the Indian mission here and her family for embalming. When embalming is necessary. State laws on embalming differ, but generally it’s only required when a body is transported by plane or train from one state or country to another or there is a week or more between the death and a burial or cremation or the death occurred because of a communicable disease and embalming is likely protect the public from it .Sridevi’s body has been taken from the morgue for embalming. Embalming is the process of preserving the human body after death to delay decomposition. The body is drained of blood and gases and pumped with replacement fluids to temporarily slow its disintegration. Dubai Public Prosecution office has confirmed that investigation of Sridevi’s death is complete and the case has been closed. Sridevi body will be brought back to Mumbai for the funeral by a chartered jet.
