Sridevi’s funeral is expected to take place in Mumbai today

Vastavam Web: Bollywood’s first female superstar, Sridevi, died in a Dubai hotel on February 24. Sridevi was in Dubai for her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. She was joined by her younger daughter Khushi and Boney. Her husband flew back to India after the wedding on Wednesday and came back on Saturday to surprise his darling wife with a ‘surprise’ dinner date, at the Emirates Towers Hotel, where she was staying. The report further claims that Boney woke Sridevi up and the couple spoke to each other for 15 minutes before he invited her for dinner. To get ready, the actress went to the washroom. When she did not return for 15 minutes, Kapoor knocked on the door. On not getting any response, he had to force open the door to discover Sridevi lying motionless in the bathtub filled with water. “He tried to revive her and when he could not, he called a friend of his. After that, he informed the police at 9 pm,” A medical team failed to revive her. The family said Sridevi did not have any history of heart ailments. The actress was declared dead following the arrival of the police and paramedics on the site. The mortal remains were then sent to the General Department of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. The family waited all of Sunday but Sridevi’s body was not handed over to them as UAE authorities carried out an autopsy. Vipul, Consul General of India in Dubai told Gulf News: ‘We are in touch with Dubai Police and other authorities to expedite the repatriation of the body.’ As per the Dubai-based Khaleej Times, the body will be returned to the family after standard procedures are carried out, such as passport cancellation and authorisation from the local public prosecutor. One those formalities are complete, Sridevi’s last remains will be flown to India on Monday afternoon, as per the latest reports doing rounds on the Internet. A chartered plane has been sent by industrialist Anil Ambani to bring Sridevi’s corpse to Mumbai, where the funeral is expected to happen in the afternoon on Monday.
