Chinese Media applauds Sitharaman’s Visit to Nathu La, Says Crisis Management Improved

Vastavam web: Chinese media has hailed Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s visit to the international border, saying India and China have improved on crisis management. It, however, said that the Indian leadership will have to seek to fix stagnated ties. An expert said in the state-owned Global Times that the greeting sent a goodwill signal towards mending ties between the two countries. “The greeting sent a goodwill signal towards mending bilateral ties and putting relations back on track toward normality”, Qian Feng, an expert at the Chinese Association for South Asian Studies, told the Global Times. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had met Chinese soldiers at Nathu La on Sunday and greeted by saying ‘Namaste’. She also told the soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army what the word meant, and graciously accepted their greetings in Chinese.
