Vastavam web: At least 11 people were killed and nine others injured when a mini bus collided with a truck in north China’s Hebei Province, a media report said today.The bus carrying 19 people collided with the trailer truck on a national highway in Huangmei township in the city of Zhangjiakou yesterday. Eight people died at the scene and three others succumbed to their injuries later in the hospital. One of the injured persons remains in serious condition, state-run Xinhua news agency reported, adding that the victims were aged between seven and 70 years.
The country’s frequently overcrowded long-distance buses are prone to accidents, with individual incidents regularly causing dozens of deaths. At least 13 people were killed and six others injured in an accident in southwest China’s Guizhou Province in April this year. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), more than 700 people are killed in road accidents across China every day.
