REVIEW: Varun Tej is natural in this movie. He seems to have put an a bit of weight and it shows up. He brings purity and lovability to his character with his work. Sai Pallavi steals your hearts again with Fidaa after Malayalam’s classic Premam. She is superb as a bindaas Telangana girl. She dubbed her voice and her Telangana diction is perfect. Raja (son of Sirivennela) fits the role well. Saichand is authentic as father of heroine. Satyam Rajesh provides entertainment in few scenes of second half. Harshavardhan Rane does a cameo and he is nice.
Sekhar Kammula’s Mark is evident in all of his films irrespective of Technicians and so is ‘Fidaa’. All the departments have worked in tandem to deliver the output he expects from them. Shakti Kanth has given a feel good music. You could sense a feel in songs & background score. All the songs are situational & they have been picturized well. Cameraman Vijay C Kumar presented even Banswada so beautifully.’Fidaa’ reminds us of Sekhar Kammula in the early years of his career. Production Values are up to the standards maintained by Dil Raju’s banner.
‘Fidaa’ is a relaunch for Sekhar Kammula as Director. Audience gets to see vintage Kammula & emotionally connects with the characters created by him. Love, Humour & Emotion in the first hour will make movie buffs who had forgotten him turn into his fans again. However, The screenplay in the Second Half is predictable to say the least & even a bit slow paced at times. Conversations between Varun Tej & Sai Pallavi were so nicely designed. After Varun offers an advise, Female Lead replies: ‘Paisallev’. When he asks what does that mean, She says: ‘Phukatla Nenedi Thesukonu’. Ther are ample such beautiful scenes in ‘Fidaa’.
Coming to the director Shekhar Kammula, he makes a comeback with a bang. The way he sets a simple story and narrates it with some good entertainment will be loved by the family audience big time. Shekar is at peaks when it comes to romance and his stamp is all over Sai Pallavi’s character as she is shown in a super strong manner who cares for her family and ambitions.
Final verdict of film is, Fidaa is one of the best love stories made in the recent times. The film has superb fun, good romance and moreover some moving emotions which will be loved by the entire section of the audience. This film may not be Sekhar Kammula’s best work, but definitely worth watching with the family. Heroine Sai Pallavi is the show stealer with her commendable performance.
